Summertime and the livin is easy

Another month has gone by and lots of changes happening/happened around here.  No sooner then we got back from CA did Zoe ask us to get her ears pierced.  She's been asking for awhile, but with Zoe you never know if it's something she really wants or if it's the idea of it she likes - the idea of buying earrings, not necessarily ever wearing them.  We were reluctant, not because we really cared how old she was when she got them pierced, but having her scream while getting them pierced, or scream when she had to wear them to bed, or scream when she had to clean them - a lot could go horribly wrong with this endeavor.  So the day she asked at the mall we spontaneously went to the ear-piercing-place, she sat in the big chair (we didn't have a camera on us) and she got her ears pierced.  She did great.  No sooner were they pierced did she ask to buy some earrings...we told her not until school got out.  And then we waited for things to go wrong.  BUT we were pleasantly surprised, other than insisting on "cleaning" them on her own (I'm guessing not a whole lot of cleaner ever reached the ear lobe) she's been great.  She didn't grasp that every time you took them out in the future it meant not having to pierce them, there was some hysteria there until I reminded her how easy mine came out.  Flash forward to the last day of school, we went to the mall, bought some earrings AND...they have yet to be worn??? (and since I started writing this a month ago, G-Ma Chloe has now had her ears re-pierced; she did her own ears first round).

We decided to move G-ma Chloe up to Dexter's room, on the main floor, and move Dexter and Kellan in together.  Big changes for D.  The boys got bunks since the bedrooms in the house are not the largest.  Of course D wanted to be on top, but I think losing his crib, getting a new bed and a roommate were overwhelming enough for him that he hasn't balked at being on the bottom. I spend pretty much every night and every early morning in there sleeping with him - I'm trying to enjoy it, but at the same time will be happy when the phase is over.  No more Crib :( I may be more sad then him.  I remember packing the crib up with G-Ma Sue when Zoe was about 3.5 and putting it in the basement. I really thought that was the last of it (so did Jim, really hoping at least).  It's now moved on to Uncle Tom and Aunt Jan's house for the next set of cousins...

Speaking of Dexter he's been talking like crazy, we forget that he could never really talk before.  He breaks out in song every now and then.  Now that he's in his "big boy" bed I felt it's time to start potty training.  He thought otherwise.  The underwear went on.  The encouragement to go in the "big boy" potty resonated for hours.  Nothing.  The underwear came off for the shower.  Next thing I knew he was peeing in the bag I keep G-ma Chloe's pharmacy of drugs in.  Nice.  And the potty training has been put on hold.

We're on to our next odd child "problem".  I can't remember (and too lazy to look back at past blogs) whether I mentioned the strep infection Kellan got from biting his nail?  He eventually lost that nail completely...or the fact he doesn't have permanent teeth in the front of his mouth (we're hoping braces and big teeth fill the gaps), the toe walking, so now it's Zoe.  The child has not lost a tooth...yet she has two new ones.  Yep, her two bottom permanent teeth are in, unfortunately she hasn't lost the baby teeth and has a row of teeth...I guess she'll never have a picture with a gap, at least not on the bottom.  Time for us to visit the dentist.

Picture taken about two weeks ago - still 4 bottom teeth on 6/4
School is officially out, baseball has officially begun.  The kids made it, passed their respective grades and are on to being big 1st and 4th graders next school year.  They are excited for summer break & all the joy of being home 24 hrs a day that will bring their father.  Jim's signed them up for a couple of camps to keep them occupied.  Zoe decided she wanted Jim to coach her T-ball team and me assistant coach.  Zoe's playing ball with Kellan has really improved her game. I'll go as far as saying she's a stud 6.5 year old T-ball player & she loves catching pop-flies.  Our Zoes has come along way & I am excited she's trying sports.

Last day of kindergarten

This could have been one of our children...I don't typically comment on the news, I typically avoid the "news" at all cost for this reason.  All I can say is Really? Sexual harassment?  This wasn't in our county, but maybe 20 minutes (?) from our house.

Movie Night, as much for them as it is for me because D will inevitably fall asleep
TWINS.  No it was not Kellan's idea.  Whenever I buy something for Kellan now, D wants the same thing.  Whatever Kellan wears to school (OK whatever baseball shirt Kellan wears to school), D must have the same one on...
I made a quick trip to WA to do some spring cleaning at the house and got to spend some time with my lil niece Willow.

Weird...we know.  And he does this on a regular basis.   Munson now weighs more than Duke (85 lbs)
...a different house, a different dog, a different lil dude, but the same bed...minus a piece of the headboard which Jim put his head through a year ago when the little dude poked him in the eye in the middle of the night.
"The bunk bed of destiny" (I have no idea what that means, Kellan asked me to write it and he's not telling)

Uncle Mike gave me this card for my birthday...there was a lot of talk about "stripers" and what they do (Thanks Uncle Mike), it was also our kids quote of the month:
ZOE: "Dad that looks like you"...."well at least the body."
Last Kids quote

Kellan's response to G-ma talking about my upcoming birthday.

Kellan: "Trust me. She won't look any younger. That's a true fact"

Zoe to Jim as she's dancing in her room and Munson is crying outside her door:

Zoe: "Dad, Munson cannot come in unless he can do the sprinkler."
