Zoe's 7th Birthday

Nope, Zoe's birthday is not in January, nor did we forget it.  I'm starting off the new year behind as usual.  Zoe did in fact have a birthday and what I hope was a good one.  I shopped for months for her new room - lucky for Ross, Marshall's and TJ Maxx.   She had a lot on her Birthday/Christmas list and somehow managed to swing it all.  I spent all day, the Sunday before her birthday, assembling her room while Jim took Zoes to Disney's Princess On Ice (this is the same seven year old who didn't want her princess room anymore).  She had a great day with her dad and then the rest of us celebrated with her later on.  She's been sporting a lot of black lately.  Another prize I found her was a $75 pair of Michael Kors boots on sale which she has already worn out (they have silver studs on the sides, I guess I'm an accomplice in supporting the black attire).

She was super sick the week of her birthday, only making it to school two days.  Fever, ear infection, slept for days.  She has major anxiety about going to the doctor so it wasn't until I told her if she had an ear ache she has to go or will need hearing aids like G-ma Chloe (mean mom, but that's what it finally took for her to admit to having a bad ear ache, poor kid).  We skipped her wellness check this year for all our sakes, but found out she weighs in at 52 lbs the week she was sick.  She's rebounded and has this crazy new appetite for wings (her official second favorite food - after In N Out Burger).  We realize we are closer to the teen years than the toddler years and can only hope for the brightest of futures for our baby girl (and a whole lot less attitude ;) )

Post-Zoe's birthday, Pre-Christmas the kids received their report cards.  We had our first above average marks (Zoe in reading and writing - overall she did great)!  Kellan came in with his strong average marks, however with comments that he needs to take his time, be more careful - basically all the things we harp on him for.  When we told him, he asked "How did I do for behavior?" - he knows that's the thing we say is the most important: attitude, respect, etc.  So he knew he had an out.  Every time we bring up the need to work harder, do your best, he asks, but "How's my behavior? (at school)"  Smart kid.

More posts to come...X-mas, New Year's Resolutions....
Birthday girl
Zoe's room before...
Zoe's room after - had to haves per Zoe - tow toned purple paint, leopard print, zebra print and peace signs.  Later she decided she still wanted her princess castle (behind her bed).
Really it didn't look this bad day one...princesses were moved to the closet.  I also decided to paint the ceiling the same light purple - I have never been so sore in my life.
Pictures taken post birthday - she has already destroyed it.

3 days of wings.  Day 1 - 10 wings, the meaty ones.
Wings day 2 (the first thing from my closet Zoe's taken, my WA shirt - so proud, she has major WA pride)
Wings day 3
3 way Mario Kart race.  Dexter is now competitive.  And when Zoe isn't going topless...
...she's rocking the goth look.  Our 7 year old baby girl.
