CA Summer 2013

It had been 10 months since Jim and Kellan last trip to CA, and 10 long months of not seeing folks.  We went for more time than usual - eleven days.  It goes without saying that we had an excellent trip, typically out of the house by 10 AM everyday and home to Casa de Munholland at 10 PM.  I was happy we didn't have too many excurcisons, not that there was a lot of R & R, we actually had more time to just hang.  Thanks to all the folks who gave us another memorable summer vacation!

Orthodontist Mon. - Thurs., Cowboy on Friday - Uncle Tom greeted us at the airport and we got a Fast Pass through security

A new look, the leg cross
If he wasn't in the pool, he was on the trampoline
Hanging with the fam

Jim and I took a night and day to ourselves for probably the first time in...honestly no idea.  There was a lot of the above going on.
Papa and G-ma Lawna made an impromptu (and brave) decision to take all 5 grandkids on big bus to Mountain Lakes. They fished, they swam, they played mini-golf, they ate and they ALL survived!
Kids meeting us at D-land.  It was a bit of a tease since we didn't go to the park, but they got to go to the pool and shop...
One reason we didn't go to D-land we took the kids to Knotts for the first time.  First time I had been since I was a teen.  Kids LOVED it (well maybe not Zoes, she's an inbetweener) and we were happy to have the Muns, Weavers and Watts join us.
Me and D before we both lost it.  I'm such a wuss.
Dev and TK
Zoe, Brooke, Kellan, TK, Devin, Madison, Dexter & Dallas (or double D as I liked to refer to the two of them, as they were big buds)

Hands down the best picture of the trip.  Dexter and I hung all day together.  Zoe and Brooke wanted to go on  a ride no else wanted to, and it was my speed so I took them.  The log ride, for some reason, had no height requirement.  I was so worried about D, because he is his mother's child and doesn't like drops on rides.  I felt awful him going on, and even more awful after I saw this picture.  Then again, we wouldn't have this awesome picture and that's what it's all about...
At "cousin" Lori's new pool.  Another really fun impromptu today.  Got to see Russ' kids, Lori's kids & HM for a few minutes.   Never a long enough trip!!!
Z & D
D has no problem going and relaxing on his own - he was having device-withdrawals
Sunset Beach.  We remembered why we never go to Sunset Beach, major winds.  We didn't last an hour.  We bought boogie boards at Costco and the kids got a taste of mom and dad's childhood.
At Huntington Beach with the Muns.  I got to hang with my lil niece, she's pretty darn cute.
D rocked the look, but didn't quite have the follow through when he got to the water.
Yes, Lyla is a professional SoCal kid
Kellan about ready to complain to me about something.

At the game with G-ma Sue
The kids anxiously waited for Mike Trout.  He showed, EXACTLY where they were standing by the time we were at our seats.  I not only "dove" for a foul ball and came up with it (had a big old bruise on my knee), I also grabbed a T-shirt that was gunned into the stands - granted some A-hole came out of nowhere and took it from me.  He later walked back over and offered it up.  I am guessing the conversation with his friends went something like "you took that out of that old lady's hand"

They did get one autograph - pitcher, Jerome Williams (cool dude who wears a pink glove in honor of his mom).
All Angel'd out courtesy of G-ma Sue.
Cousin Cohl's b-day.  Only picture I took??
We promised D he would have a b-day party in CA.  So we went to Farrells, yep Farrells re-opened in So CA.  I don't think any adult, or for that matter, any child at the table has any desire to ever go back to Farrells.  We SO appreciated everyone coming.
The Muns offered their house up for us to have some friends over.  We rarely see our friends on trips to CA, always too little time.  We were again super appreciative and had a super great time.
Uncle Cam and Aunt Tiffany got the kids a bounce house.  The double D's were in it all day/night.  I can't believe I did not get a picture of all the kids together!!!! In fact I don't have pictures of half the kids there...
Zoes loved hanging with the "big" girls
Taking a break from the bounce house.  They reminded me of Bobby and Cindy on the Brady Bunch teeter-totter episode.

Last kids' quotes:

Zoe to dad...

Zoe: "I only have Rob Zombie on my iPod. I don't have any White Zombie. Will you put some White Zombie songs on my iPod?"

Dexter to mom watching the Grammy's - specifically Katy Perry.

Dexter: "Boobies. Boobies. Wow, boobies. Mommy? Mommy, do you have boobies?"
