Zoë's Golden Birthday - 10 on the 10th (Dec.)

I guess I have heard of a golden birthday, but never really gave it much thought.  Zoë, though, talked about it being her golden birthday non-stop.  I had no idea about the year thing, only the day - I missed mine in 2013!  Likewise, Zoë's was in 2010 (if she only knew she didn't have to wait til 2015!)  All the hype didn't warrant any different outcome other than a birth day.  No party this year.

golden birthday. noun. a person's birthday when they turn the age of their birth date. It was my golden birthday when I turned 25 on the 25th or when I turned 54, since I was born in 1954.

Zoë's really into music, all kinds of genres.  She loves Taylor Swift (just like Uncle Mike). Jim had been looking for tickets for months to Taylor's concert back in Sept. (at a decent price). The day of the concert floor tickets opened up at the Pepsi Center, still not cheap, but at least face value.  We got them 2 hours before the show started.  I was really excited to take her, not so much because I was dying to see TS, but because she was sooo excited to go and she let me take her! We ended up seven rows in from the catwalk stage.  It really was a great show.

Besides listening to music, Zoë is in choir again this year (two recitals over the holiday), she decided to play the clarinet (one band concert under her belt) and was the "ball kid" at the Nuggets game.  She's still WAY into the Seahawks.  She asked for a Russell Wilson doll for X-mas (and got one).  She's reading the Hunger Games.  She now loves to shop, Tilly's is her recent favorite.  She's doing both great in math (exceeds in some areas) and then not so great in math (struggles with fractions).

Did I mention she now wears socks?  Jackets?  LONG PANTS (on a regular basis)?!?! She's developed her own personal style.  I can't believe my baby girl is 10!  We LOVE you Zoes.

Nugget's Game!

Zoë saw an opportunity during a Nugget's game to be a ball kid.  Jim had to submit an application and "essay" to nominate her - telling her to not get her hopes up as it was already into the season and he was sure all games were accounted for.  A few days later Jim got a call from the Nuggets for Zoë to be the ball kid.  We got 4 free tickets to the game and free parking.  It wasn't until they all got down there (Jim and the kids) that they realized they got to go to the practice court, hang with some players in the weight room, play on the court before the game, then Zoë got to rebound the ball while a couple of the players warmed up before the game, then finally, got to give them high-fives entering the stadium before the game.  Her brother's were pretty psych'd she got to do it since they got to participate too.  Check out the video of her on the jumbo tron...

BEAR

Through all Zoë's 10 years, bear has been by her side, with the exception of the one trip to California where half way to the airport we realized we left it at home.  Bear's had better days: minus an eye, no longer pale pink and ripped to shreds, it's still around...the picture really doesn't give it justice!  I asked Zoë to say one thing about bear - "If I didn't have bear, I wouldn't be able to do anything." - there you have it, here's to a lifetime with bear!

PS - I finally have the umlaut figured out over her ë on the keyboard after all these years. She considers her name spelled incorrectly without it...I will not be going back and updating the last six years of posts to correct.

Cousin Summer Part 2 of 2 - Welcome Hobbes!

Post started on 8/2!  A very late welcome to our new cousin Hobson Calvin Kabisch before. We were so happy the fam made a road trip out to CO so we could meet him and visit with his brother and sister, it had been way too long.  Now it's been way too long for me to even remember what we all did.  We made our traditional trip to Casa Bonita, introduced Monty to Elitch Gardens, swam in the condo pool, watched Kellan play some football...incredibly lame post.  On to the pictures...

"Hobbes" with his big sis Willow and big brother Monty.

There was sincerity...
