KELLAN - Pre-Teen Birthday

Two months late...Kellan is 12!  He had another two teeth pulled, plus a cyst removed this week; his third oral surgery.  Everything is all good and we await the Dec. braces appointment.

His football team went "defeated," pretty much got killed every game.  Jim liked to say every game is a win if Kellan walked off the field unhurt. We definitely had a different perspective with football than we do with baseball.  As of today his baseball went undefeated, 11 and 0, 3 dominant wins in the playoffs to win the championship.  He's been crushing the ball. Kellan kept saying it took 8 years, 13 seasons and Finally a championship. He got a shirt. Whatever happened to trophies??!

15 facts about Kellan:
  1. His favorite movie is Napoleon Dynamite.  Wild guess who he is going to be for Halloween?
  2. He wears a size 10 shoe, men's small clothes and bought him a size 16 in jeans (I can fit in them, well kind of).
  3. He loves his "me time."
  4. He still doesn't do his hair (hence the real short cut again)
  5. When he does poorly at one thing, he recognizes something he's good at.
  6. He knows he's a "good kid"
  7. He scolds me when I cuss.
  8. He knows what a stripper is - "mom, kids talk inappropriately at my school."  I didn't pursue, but I did JOKINGLY say "well I was a stripper in college" - Based on his horrified reaction, I'm thinking he knows what one is.
  9. He always asks for a sip of my beer, but then never takes one.
  10. He tells grandma every night he loves her and gives her a hug.
  11. He sings in the car with me, but gets angry if I sing the not-so-kid-friendly parts.
  12. He gets mad at his dad for the same reasons I do (that list is too long).
  13. We go to the same barber/stylist even though he has piercings and tattoos (not a big deal for me, but for a lad growing up in the Ranch...).
  14. He can be pretty funny.  ZoĆ« and I were belting out the song "Stitches" - Kellan was in a really goofy obnoxious mood and replaced stitches with ... I lost it because it was actually a very good replacement of the word (I know, not a good role model, cue dad).
  15. He laughs at himself, he loves his friends, he stands up for his brother and sister, he gives me a hug at the end of a long day, the list goes on.  I love this kid....
He still won't forgive me for his hair.
Kellan and Justin, bummed I didn't get one with Dominic too.  Only the second game I got to go to.  I was Ok with it, Kellan on the ground, not moving for a good few minutes.   Picture post teeth pulled.
About a month ago I had a good inch on him, so close!
Random note.  Jim took Kellan and Zoe somewhere and I was late coming home from work.  This is what I walked into - chilling on the sofa, watching TV, eating his seeds.

Past kids' quotes:
All about Dexter (my sweet boy)
After D had bit Kellan.
Mom: "Next time you do that, you will lose your iPod for one week."
D: "I can handle that."

A week after the Mammoth game (Hooter's girls in the house)
D: "Remember the girls with the owls on their shirts?"
Mom: "Yes, why?"
D: "You remember?"
Mom: "Yes."
D: "I remember too."
