Socks anyone?

We started our "summer of firsts" - first vacation, first summer visitor, first illness, first baseball game, and first marriage proposal.

Censorship may be coming soon to this blog.  Now that Kellan can read, Zoe will use this to her advantage and she's been asking him to read the blog to her.  I'm already getting in trouble.  This blog may be coming to you in Spanish as soon as I can learn it - which means others will need to learn it too.  Maybe that's a great incentive for the kids to learn; I'm doubting it.

Zoe's first cast came off and the second one went on. I had a gander at the new bone and the doctor says things are looking great.  She was able to bend her elbow immediately.  Now if she will just start acting like she has a broken bone there's hope we'll get this cast off on June 16th.  There have finally been some pictures taken with it, though if you read this weeks from now I may have been forced to take them down since I've already had the warning - "you better not put any of those on the blog."

Jim took his annual baseball trip to Minnesota, spent a few days over Memorial Day watching the Angels play the Twins.

G-ma Chloe came for a 2.5 week visit.  Our great weather went out the window and we even got some snow for her late May visit.  Of course the nice temps are back now that she's left.  Dexter, like with visitors before, took to her right away.  He followed her everywhere, "Mah-mah" as he liked to talk call her, even pointed out Duke's poop to her in the yard to pick up similar to what Kellan used to do when we lived with my folks - he was the designated "poop scout".  We were sad to see her leave and really hope she moves here.  Time will tell.

Dexter is talking more and more.  Below are some of the words he's saying - you think there's a baseball/Pixar influence in this house?

baseball game, single, double, foul ball, nemo, buzz, "mckeen", poo-poos, side-side (for outside).  Still not calling the kid's by their names yet.

All three kids are presently sick with awful colds.  Jim took them all to the doctor Friday, to avoid the weekend urgent care visit, to be sent home with a comment along the line of  "they're pretty sick, but hopefully they'll get better before they get worse" (paraphrasing of course). Flash forward to Monday a.m. - back to the doctor for Zoe, double ear infection - Monday p.m. back to the doctor for Dexter, single ear infection.  Not sure if they are more sick of us or us of them; we've spent a lot of time in the house.  Both Kellan and Zoe are officially out of school until August 2nd.

Hard to tell from the pictures, but the kids watching the Rockies.  They pay serious attention.
Within minutes of walking in from the airport, Dexter and his new friend - "mah-mah"
Pre-school graduation
Kellan went 2 for 2 in his first game.
The old dog.  Hard to tell from the picture, but Duke isn't getting around all that great lately.

We all enjoy a backyard game of wiffle ball now and then.  Zoe was even pulling off the one handed hit.  Now and then Kellan likes to make up his own rules.  Of course Jim has no mercy on the kid and plays "fair" meaning Kellan doesn't always win.  Kellan isn't always in the mood for losing.  I was able to get his mood on camera, might have only been better had I got it on video.  The many faces of Kellan, suppressing anger to mocking Jim and everything in between.
Mad
Thinking about how to respond

More anger
Frustrated
Ah-ha, he's got it now
Mocking..and the Wiffle game was over

Even uses a glove now, on the correct hand and all
Zoe got a written and a "down on his knee" marriage proposal this past week.  Here's her and her beau (he lives on our street and was in her pre-school class), cruising in his birthday car.

Still one of Dexter's favorite places to sleep
Can anyone guess the above picture?  I was doing some spring cleaning and came across 7 pairs of Kellan's socks in the bathroom cabinet.  Kellan takes them off when he poops, little did we know he was stashing them away.  We asked - and no, no good answer, no explanation - not even anything worth quoting.
